The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Nomusa Ncube-Dube is, on Friday, 10 May 2024, scheduled to receive the provincial allocation of Home Affairs mobile offices that were unveiled by President Cyril Ramaphosa this week.
Of the 100 brand new Home Affairs mobile offices, KwaZulu-Natal will be receiving 16, which will add to the existing fleet in the province. The Premier will be joined by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Njabulo Nzuza, Members of the Executive Council (MECs) who will collect and dispatch their allocations of these mobile offices to the districts where they are MEC Champions.
The mobile offices are part of Home Affairs’ Hybrid Access Model which expands services in areas where the department’s footprint is limited.
Premier Dube-Ncube said that “This is a game-changer in the provision of Home Affairs services. Government is fulfilling its commitment and mandate to take services to the people”
Mobile offices extend the reach of the department’s services by going to where people live, especially in remote areas.
The functionality of these mobile offices will be demonstrated as a few members of the public will briefly access services on site, before the units are distributed to the various districts.
