In a proactive move aimed at addressing pressing service delivery issues, the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government descended on Inchanga within the eThekwini Metro Municipality. Led by Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube, the government committed to implementing tangible solutions to the community's challenges.
Over the course of two days, beginning yesterday, the Provincial Government focused its efforts on Ward 4, initiating significant developments in electricity supply and unveiling a comprehensive crime-fighting strategy.
Yesterday, on the 23rd of April, at 5:00 PM, Premier Dube-Ncube presided over the switch-on ceremony of a crucial electricity transformer in Ward 4, Inchanga. The area had been plagued by power outages due to malfunctioning and damaged transformers, impacting the daily lives of residents.
Today, the 24th of April, at 9:00 AM, the Premier took charge of the Provincial Government's multi-sectoral crime-fighting and service delivery Imbizo in Inchanga. The event served as a platform for outlining the government's responses to the prevailing challenges, particularly the recent surge in crime, including incidents of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide.
As part of her oversight responsibilities, Premier Dube-Ncube paid a visit to the Inchanga Police Station, located over 5 kilometres outside of Inchanga township. This visit aimed to assess the operational capacity of the station and to discuss community safety issues with local law enforcement officials.
Following the police station visit, the Premier proceeded to KwaThintwa School for the Deaf, where she engaged with educators and students. Accompanying her were Education MEC Mbali Frazer and eThekwini Municipality Speaker Thabani Nyawose, demonstrating a collaborative approach to addressing education-related challenges in the community.
These visits served as crucial groundwork ahead of the Premier's upcoming Crime and Substance Abuse Imbizo, scheduled to take place at the Meyiwa Sports Field in Inchanga on Wednesday, the 24th of April 2024.
Premier Dube-Ncube's proactive engagement underscores the Provincial Government's commitment to addressing the multifaceted needs of the Inchanga community, fostering collaboration between government entities, and ultimately enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
